WELCOME TO THE WEST WIMBLEDON SOCIETY
The West Wimbledon Society (WWS) is based at Avenue Hall - a warm, welcoming and sociable place to be enjoyed by the whole community.
Avenue Hall was built in 1881 and has been home to the WWS since 1914. The society’s purpose was “for the mental and moral improvement of the developing population of the area, as well as to enjoy concerts and talks at a very reasonable subscription”.
There is now a thriving timetable of weekly activities and monthly WWS events at the hall. We’d love for you to come along and join us!
West Wimbledon Society Committee (2025)
Avenue Hall was refurbished in 2015 with assistance from the Big Lottery Fund - a new slate roof was installed, the hall was repainted throughout and the oak floor was sanded and resealed.
Exterior refurbishment was completed in 2018 with assistance from the London Marathon Charitable Trust. Walls, fences and paving were rebuilt, and improved access and facilities for those with disabilities were installed.
